An exciting discovery

I discovered something brilliant. I enjoy the fantasy genre in music, books, video games and film and have gotten used to all the cliches and themes that appear consistently in the genre. Monsters have been an integral part of the genre since it’s conception in folklore and mythology. Many of these monsters are seen time and time again, vampires, Orcs, Witches, giant beasts and insects, the undead, animal-human hybrids and all other manner of sinister creatures that every culture and time period have developed over the ages.  That is why I am writing this post, because I have been pleasantly surprised by not just a monster, but a deity that puts most other villains to shame! Comparative essay (first attempt; unfinished)

The Garden Of Earthly Delights (Hell) by Hieronymus Bosch is a 2D painting that was painted between 1480-1505, it depicts a christian hell. The colour pallet vibrantly details the realistic style. Casting The Damned Into Hell by Hans Memling was painted earlier, between c. 1467-1471. It is also a 2D painting, but with a narrower colour pallet that depicts a more traditional christian hell with heavily contrasting shading.
